My experience in the private sector includes primary care nursing, and the continuum of aged residential care across rest home, hospital and specialist dementia care for both hospital and rest home. I am passionate about developing services to reduce inequity, maximise independence, participation and quality of life for older people and have a strong passion for supporting people living with dementia.
The Innovations and the Challenges at the Coalface
I am pleased to take this opportunity to share an example of sector collaboration with a number of large aged residential care providers. The National Clinical Benchmarking group shares clinical indicator data and InterRAI data to create rich discussion and share with each other how achievements have been made and also problem solving to support each other with ideas and initiatives. The group also establish sub groups to work on key initiatives of interest. The clinical data ranges from falls and fractures through to polypharmacy and wellbeing measures . The group is multidisciplinary and includes a range of disciplines. The group has been running for a number of years now and is an example of how private providers can collaborate to benefit outcomes for older people.
